As technology changes, we should keep a good eye on those technologies we love. At WeakNet Labs, we love WiFi (and especially Atheros!)! WiGig is a group of engineers that produced the first 60GHz wireless PCIe device. More and more talk is going around since the WiGig group joined up with the WiFiAlliance about triband devices that do 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and now 60GHz, and now we read that Atheros and Wilocity have “embraced” the new technology. The new, to us consumers, unlicensed 60GHz band can deliver speeds up to 7Gbps! This is about nine or ten times faster than the fastest wireless N devices of today, and competes with Wireless HD devices. Here is a cool article that includes the press release of WiGig’s device:

I’m sorry to hear about that. Which version of BackTrack are you running? I don’t use BackTrack and here is an example why: I burned the DVD and booted into it to see if I could replicate your dependency, for a %100 effective resolution (which is to just do cpan -i Tk::Pane, or use WeakNet Linux). I tried to install Xvidcap to make a quick video tutorial and was bashed with a codec dependency bug, which was supposedly resolved with “apt-get install libavcodec-stripped-51″ This let Xvidcap run, but the frame rate stayed at zero and after the demo, the file was 30k. I also realized that after installing the codec, VLC disappeared and can only be installed if libavcodec-stripped-51 is uninstalled! This makes no sense to me at all. I don’t use BackTrack, I don’t support someone else’s OS either. You have a dependency problem. Try doing
“cpan -i Tk::Pane”
and
“cpan -i Tk::PathEntry”
Here is the bug for BackTrack and Xvidcap: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xvidcap/+bug/290728
Please let me know what happens, so I can update the tutorial with your/BackTrack’s problem.
Thanks,
~Douglas.
