A UNIX Passwd Cracker - Written By Trevelyn, Chartreuse, and Godot.
"Basically, i thought of how john the ripper worked, and recoded it all in perl in my head one day as a proof of concept. Then came home from work and spent the weekend coding it. When i was finished with the program (after about 25 minutes or so) Ethermine (sitting right behind me in the lab at his macbook pro) says to me "Yeah, okay you coded that, 'awesome program' in like half an hour..." And, well, yes, i did. The weekend was spent actually customizing the programs basic I/O and the feel of it.
Since it is a Perl program it is, kind of slow. Perl interprets it's code on the fly via a shell - Bash, Csh, Zsh, etc. making it slower than a compiled program such as John the Ripper. But as i said, it's all a proof of concept - i wanted to see if i could do it being a newbie at programming. :)
Godot recently emailed me with a fresh update of perlwd, that uses the libthreads module which i am going to integrate into WNLA. This update of Godot's makes the program run a bit faster!"
I will post the update soon after testing. - Thanks - Trevelyn and WeakNet Labs.
