TrevsAdminTool Is kinda newbish, but so are my skills at coding in Perl/Tk. This is the first application I have made with a Window, usually they are all text based apps. I learned my Tk Perl stuff all online and from books, and I can write up a quick introduction now just from memory if anyone might find it useful to learn. Check the "tutorials" section (probably under the PDF subsection) frequently. Here's what my first GUI app can do:

• check uptime
• check who you are "$USER" env
• check who's logged on

AdminTool.pl is available here. Older versions may be buggy. Any comments or additions are welcome. A dependency list is below the downloads.

INSTALLATION:
bash~#wget (right click this link and wget it)
bash~#tar vzxfvvvv admintool.tar.gz
bash~#cd admin<tab>
bash~#perl trevsadmintool.pl

 

You could also, Install it into your $PATH and run it as a normal command. If you want the cool icon and the top icon, (in the window title bar) you need to put that png file into your path as well, in the same directory as the admintool. (Also, open admintool and correct the $PATH of the PNG.)
